Capsule Geology

The Copperline West (Driftwood West) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1760 metres on a west-southwest–facing slope, approximately 300 metres west of Skutsil Knob.

The area is underlain by gently-dipping, subaerial, calc-alkaline volcanic flows, tuffs and breccias with interbedded agglomerates, sandstones, mudstones and limestones of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa and the Lower to Middle Jurassic Nilkitkwa formations, both of the Hazelton Group.

Mineralization consists of 5 to 10 per cent fine-grained disseminated and stringer bornite, tetrahedrite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and rare native copper within subaerial, calc-alkalic volcanics of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation.

In 2003, a select sample (135532) from the south end of the West zone yielded 2.14 per cent copper and 50.2 grams per tonne silver, whereas a float sample (135534) from West zone yielded 3.67 per cent copper and 112.0 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 27276).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Copperline (MINFILE 093M 117) occurrence and a complete exploration history can be found there.
